Dr. Emily Teck is a Jewish educator, musician and consultant with a focus on increasing and improving the ways communities educate and engage young children and their families in joyful Judaism. Her work blends diverse online and in person programs to maximize the impact of her work. Dr. Teck AKA ‘Miss Emily’ travels to communities and conferences to present music and workshops while also consulting remotely, directing the NEXT program and JewishLearningMatters.com.

She holds a Ed.D. in Jewish Education and serves on the faculty of Gratz College. Dr. Teck’s experience and expertise in distinct but related areas such as curriculum design, program evaluation, developmentally appropriate practice, digital communication, integrated learning, Jewish communal life, parenting, song and prayer leading combine to give her a uniquely informed approach to her work.

Songs from her 5 albums of Jewish children’s music are used in classrooms and congregations around the world and have been featured by PJ Library and Behrman House. Her work has been published by The Jewish Educator, Kveller, RJBlog, ScaryMommy and more. Emily has presented workshops and webinars to and for leadership of national conferences and organizations including the USCJ, URJ, Hebrew College, NewCAJE, Limmud, University of Miami, and more. When ‘Miss Emily’ became a mother, she launched Jewish Family JamsTM, a music & movement program for children 0-3 year and their grown-ups through which she facilitates classes and provides training and curricula to facilitators.

She has a B.A. in Jewish Studies, an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction and an Ed.D. in Jewish Education. Her 2018 research project Exploring Tot Shabbat: A Study on Tot Shabbat Programs and Their Effect on the Engagement in Jewish Life of Families with Young Children was the first attempt to formally define and evaluate programs for this population and the insights and suggestions gleaned from the work have already been utilized by hundreds of communities.

Dr. Teck co-edited the 2014 publication: Exploring Jewish Values Through Children’s Literature, Early Childhood Edition and created five albums of Jewish children’s music. Emily received the Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education in 2010, the Geffen Prize in Contemporary Jewish Studies and was accepted into the Emerging Scholar Mentorship Program by the Network for Research in Jewish Education in 2018. Dr. Teck lives in Florida with her spouse and their three young children.
